The criminal chamber of first instance of the Court of Appeal of Tangier ruled in the case of sexual harassment of which a young girl was the victim last September.
Accused of indecent assault against a woman with violence, four minors were sentenced to three years in prison each, which was applauded by the Web. Internet users have indeed welcomed the court's decision which, according to them, brought justice to the victim.
“This heavy sentence will be an example for all those who dare to harm the physical integrity of women,” “Morocco is a country that defends women's rights. We should be proud of this,” “This is a strong message to deter such acts in the future. We are a society that aspires to a justice that is more effective, protective and adapted to contemporary expectations,” we can read among other comments.
The suspects had sexually assaulted the victim on the Corniche in Tangier. The video of this criminal act made the rounds on social networks and several voices were raised, calling for heavy sanctions to be imposed on the culprits. Some highlighted the need to strengthen laws to protect women in public spaces, while others cited the inaction of witnesses present.
The research and investigations carried out in this case made it possible to identify the suspects.
