A third defeat in a row for Stade Brestois in Ligue 1. The Ty-Zefs lost 3-2 against Monaco at the Stade Louis-II on Friday November 22. The Brestois can no longer win in the championship. The Monegasques opened the scoring in the 5th minute of the match thanks to Maghnes Akliouche before doubling the lead with Aleksandr Golovine (24th). Returning from the locker room, Eric Roy's players managed to reduce the score on a corner hit by Kamory Doumbia who found the head of Abdallah Sima (50th). At the end of the match, the Brestois pushed but did not succeed in finding the opening and it was Monaco who broke the neck by scoring a third goal. Ludovic Ajorque's reduction in the score in the 96th minute finally came too late.
Pierre Lees-Melou is out with injury
An evening to forget for Eric Roy's players, especially since Pierre Lees-Melou was injured, apparently affected by a calf or fibula injury. He finished the game on the bench encouraging his teammates.
Now the people of Brest have their sights set on the Champions League and a historic trip to Barcelona. A poster that no one would have imagined a year ago. In this competition, the Ty-Zefs are in great shape, they have not conceded a single defeat in four matches (three wins and one draw).
But the opponent is big and it is undoubtedly the biggest challenge awaiting Brendan Chardonnet's teammates, with the reception of Real Madrid on the last day. The Brestois are in a good position to qualify for, at a minimum, the play-offs of this competition. It remains to be seen whether it will be with or without Pierre Lees-Melou.
