The president of the Pays de la Loire region, Christelle Morançais, announced this Friday on the social network X that she had taken the decision to cancel her visit to Nantes next Monday. She was to welcome the mayors of Loire-Atlantique at the Hôtel de Région. Faced with different calls to demonstrate at the same time coming from several unions, she decided to cancel this exchange with the various city councilors of the department.
Protests against the budget
Next Monday, the calls to demonstrate mainly come from unions in the culture sector, in reaction to recent announcements from the President of the Region on savings to be made. While the budget vote is scheduled for the month of December, the Region plans to carry out 100 million euros in savings. Christelle Morançais had also announced the non-replacement of 100 positions by 2027. The associations and unions having called for demonstrations next Monday have planned to meet at 8:30 a.m. in front of the Hôtel de Région, “Faced with calls for mobilization, coming from LFI, unions and left-wing associations, aimed at contesting the savings to be made on the regional budget, we are not able to guarantee security around and inside of the regional hotel” she declared.
The regional president is supposed to go to Vendée this Tuesday to discuss, this time, with the mayors of the department.
