Storm Caetano caused “a first early winter episode for the season, with violent winds and snow”, in the words of Météo France, leading to numerous power cuts. For the latter, the most affected regions were Normandy, Loire" rel="tag">Pays de la Loire and Centre-Val de Loire, as well as Corsica.
Back to normal by Sunday evening
This Friday morning at 7 a.m., “200,000 homes” were still plunged into darkness, declared the Minister of Energy Transition, Agnès Pannier-Runacher, on BFMTV-RMC. The minister had promised a return to normal by Saturday evening for 90% of the households concerned, and by “Sunday evening for all” of them.
The intervention time of the teams to restore power is explained by the snow which “is heavy”, which “ices and breaks the lines, so these are complex interventions”, underlined Agnès Pannier-Runacher.
