Former Swedish league champions, Kalmar FF may part ways with Nigerian central defender Vince Osuji during the January transfer window amid rising interest from European clubs.
The 18-year-old arrived at Kalmar FF in April 2024 from Nigeria‘s De Cardinal Football Academy. Despite Kalmar’s struggles in the Allsvenskan, Osuji shone, starting 15 of 18 games and scoring his first professional goal in a 2-2 draw against Swedish giants, Malmö FF.
His speed, physicality, game awareness, and passing ability have earned him praise and made him one of Kalmar’s best players.
According to Swedish outlet Sportbladet, Osuji’s performances have caught the attention of teams like Anderlecht, Slavia Prague, and seven other clubs.

Osuji’s rapid development has sparked competition for his signature. Slavia Prague and Anderlecht are among the foreign clubs monitoring him closely, with Slavia already boasting former Flying Eagles defender Igoh Ogbu.
Anderlecht, meanwhile, have midfielder Ishaq Abdulrazak on their books, currently on loan to Odds Ballklubb in Norway.
Osuji’s contract at Kalmar runs until the end of 2028, but a move in January could accelerate his trajectory.
Eligible for Nigeria’s U-20 national team, he could be a key player for coach Aliyu Zubair at the 2025 U20 Africa Cup of Nations in South Africa. His continued development could see him emulate past Nigerian defensive stalwarts in European football.
