“We have no issues at Renault” concerning a possible social plan, assures Thursday, November 21 its CEO Jean-Dominique Senard, former president of the Michelin group (2012-2019), on France Bleu Pays d'Auvergne, on the occasion of the first edition of OrbiMob, the trade show sustainable territorial mobility, in Cournon-d'Auvergne near Clermont-Ferrand (Puy-de-Dôme).
“Our social dialogue, for many years, has, I believe, been extraordinarily active and intense,” welcomes the boss of Renault. He believes that “Everyone is aware of the company's development. Everyone today welcomes the considerable efforts that the company has made to restore both its performance and its influence.” It highlights the choice of “the electrification of our vehicles” a you “France's bet to install all of our value-added devices on vehicle electrification”. “A few years ago, we couldn’t have imagined it, it’s very important to hear that”he assures.
However, faced with government budget cuts and social plans which could multiply, Jean-Dominique Senard warns that “the essential point is to protect the competitiveness of our industries”. “Everyone must make an effort in this country, we know that wellhe continues. So it's not about who does what. Everyone must give. The important thing is that we do not affect the competitiveness of our industry over the long term.”he pleads.
He therefore calls on the State not to reduce its aid for electric cars: “Reducing or eliminating, as was the case in Germany, purchase subsidies very shortly after having made arrangements for 2035, does not make life easier for manufacturers”describes Jean-Dominique Senard. He thinks that “it’s a little inconsistent compared to the idea that had to be implemented”. Il “gets the message across” that it is necessary “support this sustainable mobility, support the electric vehicle in Europe until the moment when we have to be completely autonomous and on equal ground with international competition”.
It compares with China and the United States, where “in these two major global blocs, aid for the development of electric vehicles is very important. Europe should not be behind in this area”warns Jean-Dominique Senard.
