On Thursday afternoon, snow fell in many places in the lowlands of Switzerland for the first time this winter. There was chaos in traffic in various places. In terms of SBB train traffic, S-Bahn trains in western Switzerland are particularly affected. There are also restrictions at Bern train station. According to the SBB, the ICE, IC 6, IC 8 and IR 15 lines are affected.

According to media reports, buses no longer run in the city of Zurich. Several bus and tram lines are also canceled in Bern. Depending on the line, the restriction may last until the end of operating hours after midnight.

Irregular operation of the public transport network is also to be expected in Basel, as the Basel Transport Company (BVB) writes in a statement. The entire network of Baselland Transport AG (BLT) and BVB is affected.

The A2 between Amsteg and the Gotthard Tunnel is closed. According to the TCS, the reason for this is a truck standing sideways. The roads on the south and north sides of the Gotthard are covered in snow. The driving conditions are difficult, writes the TCS. On the south side of the Gotthard between the Giornico heavy traffic center and the Gotthard tunnel, the A 2 is closed to trucks, writes the TCS on platform X.

More to come.
