This Thursday, November 21, 2024, the Gironde department was placed on orange alert.

The reason: the passage of the Caetano storm which caused strong gusts.

And this caused some damage: in the town of Landiras, as explained by The South-Gironde Republicanthe Sud-Gironde animal park was strongly affected. Falling trees caused by the wind damaged the fences.

A power outage in Sauternes

In Sauternes, the town hall reports a major power outage on its territory. The school and daycare are particularly affected. “The daycare operates in degraded mode, therefore without heating but with a light point,” said the town hall in the afternoon in a press release published on its Facebook page. She also invited parents to come pick up their children from 4:15 p.m.

A semi-trailer lying between Balizac and Origne

Another consequence of the Caetano storm: in Fargues, near Langon, the road to Mounic was cut to traffic; “between the junction of the Route des Pichons and the intersection of the motorway bridge”, it is specified at the town hall.

Shortly after 6 p.m., the road was cleared. “No human or material damage has been reported,” indicates the town hall.
