Parts of County Derry have woken up to snowfall this morning as temperatures dropped overnight.

The Met Office had issued a snow and ice warning from 6pm yesterday (Tuesday) to 10am this morning (Wednesday) with up to 5cm of snow falling on higher ground.

This morning, traffic is slow moving on the Glenshane Pass.

There were also reports of road traffic collisions in the Dungiven and Garvagh areas earlier this morning.

Meanwhile, St Mary’s PS, Altinure is closed to pupils this morning due to the weather conditions.

The weather is expected to stay cold on Wednesday with bright spells and scattered wintry showers.

PSNI in Causeway Coast and Glens have advised motorists to take extra care on the roads this morning due to the snow fall and ice.
