This should be the first offensive of general winter: snow and ice are forecast for Thursday over a large part of Burgundy. Météo France has even placed 3 departments in the region on orange alert: Yonne, Saône-et-Loire and Côte-d'Or. From 3 to 20 centimeters of snow are expected depending on the sectors of Burgundy-Franche-Comté.
In Yonne, faced with the expected deterioration of traffic conditions, the prefecture announced in a press release this Friday that the maximum authorized speed will be reduced by 20 km/h, on the entire road network outside urban areas, from this Thursday 11 a.m. For vehicles over 7.5 tonnes, the maximum authorized speed will be lowered to 70 km/h.
Another measure, specified in the same prefectural decree: it will be prohibited to overtake and change lanes, “when, on the roadway, at least one traffic lane is covered with snow or ice on all or part of its surface“.
