The quality of life in the province of Sondrio is acceptable, our territory loses six positions compared to last year and ranks 38th out of 107 in the ItaliaOggi – Ital Communications ranking, in collaboration with the “La Sapienza” university of Rome , drawn up on the basis of 92 indicators, divided into nine macro-categories. One thousand points are assigned to the province with the best positioning, while zero to the worst one.
In addition to the general position in the ranking, the various categories are interesting, from which it emerges, for example, that the province of Sondrio can boast excellent safety, but very low scores with regards to health. Valtellina and Valchiavenna, in fact, are positioned in sixth place in the safety macro-category, three positions higher than in 2023. Few, to give a few examples, are the recorded car thefts, less than 10 per 100 thousand inhabitants; but also shots in apartments (87 per 100 thousand inhabitants, which ranks ninth). The crimes of voluntary homicide and kidnapping will be absent in our territory in 2023. Less positive, however, are the rankings relating to crimes related to the exploitation of prostitution (64th position), extortion (69th position) and scams and computer fraud (473 per 100 thousand inhabitants, 67th position).
And if there don’t seem to be any serious concerns on the safety front, the same cannot be said regarding the health category: Sondrio is only 76th out of 107 Italian provinces and loses 21 positions. It is going particularly badly in terms of the undersizing of beds in the specialist departments (the score, from 0 to a thousand, does not even reach 250 and results in a terrible 81st place) and, in particular, in Intensive Care (99th position) and in Cardiology, Cardiac Surgery and Coronary Units (80th place).
Leafing through the entire and substantial dossier, then, an excellent second place emerges as regards the density of urban greenery in the capital, while Sondrio is third to last for the offer of public transport in the city. Many, too many, deaths from cancer (27.45 per hundred deaths, 98th position) and deaths and injuries per hundred road accidents (150.39, 83rd place in the ranking). Third to last position for the high suicide rate, almost 13 per 100 thousand inhabitants.
Finally, Sondrio stands out in the rankings of students with adequate alphabetic and numerical skills, second and first respectively in the ranking of the Italian provinces.
