The 24 teams qualified for the African Cup of Nations are now known after the last matches took place on Tuesday. Most of the verdicts were already in, however, but most of the teams were keen to finish on a high note.
This is the case of Marc Brys’ Cameroon, which won against Zimbabwe (2-1) with a goal from Vincent Aboubakar, much criticized in the country. Brys had defended his choice to take the Hatayspor striker.
The Belgian can enjoy his revenge on Samuel Eto’o, who tried throughout the qualifications to put a spoke in his wheels: the Indomitable Lions won their group hands down – ahead of their opponent, Zimbabwe, who was also already qualified.
The Democratic Republic of Congo, also already assured of its ticket for CAN 2025, ended its campaign on a false note. With Noah Sadiki still in the starting eleven, the Leopards lost (1-2) to everyone’s surprise against Ethiopia at home. In the same group, Tanzania beat Guinea to the post for the last ticket (1-0).
