PORT CITY OF STOCKTON 39 MODESTO AND 15. CURRENTLY COMING AROUND LAKE TAHOE QUITE A DROP OFF COMPARED TO THIS TIME YESTERDAY MORNING. ANYWHERE FROM ABOUT 2 TO 9 DEGREES COLDER IN THE CENTRAL VALLEY. A FIVE DEGREE DROP IN FAIRFIELD, WHERE AREAS OF SOLANO COUNTY ARE BELOW FREEZING. SO I WOULDN’T BE SURPRISED IF YOU SEE A LITTLE FROST ON THE ROOFTOP THIS MORNING. WAKING UP IN THE SOLANO COUNTY AREA. WE’RE ABOUT 18 DEGREES COLDER TO 16 DEGREES COLDER UP AT THE TOP VALLEY PLANNER FOR THIS TUESDAY. EXPECT WE WILL HAVE CLOUDS THICKENING UP AS THE DAY UNFOLDS. TEMPERATURES WILL BE VERY SIMILAR TO YESTERDAY’S HEIGHTS. GETTING INTO THE UPPER 50S. A DRY DAY TODAY ALL ACROSS THE REGION. WE’RE GOING TO GET TO THE LOW 50S THIS AFTERNOON IN THE FOOTHILLS UNDERNEATH CLOUDY SKIES. AND THEN FOR THE SIERRA, IF YOU HAVE TRAVEL PLANS UP AND OVER THE PASSES, NO WEATHER SHOULD HINDER THOSE PLANS. WE’RE EXPECTING SUN AND CLOUDS, HIGHS PUSHING TOWARDS THE UPPER 30S. WE ARE WATCHING THOUGH AND WAITING FOR THE NEXT ARRIVAL OF OUR WEATHER SYSTEM. AND THIS GOES ALL THE WAY OUT TO THE TROPICAL PACIFIC HERE WITH THIS BAND OF MOISTURE. IT’S CALLED AN ATMOSPHERIC RIVER. YOU CAN THINK OF IT AS A RIVER IN THE SKY, ESSENTIALLY, WITH ALL OF THIS MOISTURE POINTED RIGHT IN TOWARDS NORTHERN CALIFORNIA. BUT REALLY, WHEN YOU LOOK AT JUST THIS AREA OF MOISTURE, YOU HAVE TO LOOK AT WHERE IT’S GOING TO TOGGLE. IS IT GOING TO GO A LITTLE FARTHER NORTH? IS IT GOING TO GO A LITTLE FARTHER SOUTH? SO AS WE GO THROUGH THE DAY TOMORROW, IT’S KIND OF POSITIONED A LITTLE BIT FARTHER TO THE NORTH. BY THURSDAY, LIFTS A BIT MORE TO THE NORTH. AND THEN ONCE WE GET INTO FRIDAY, IT SWEEPS A LITTLE BIT FARTHER TO THE SOUTH. SO WHAT THAT MEANS IN TERMS OF RAINFALL AND SNOWFALL FOR OUR AREA IS THAT THE BEST RAINFALL TOMORROW IS GOING TO BE HAPPENING IN THE NORTHERN PART OF NORTHERN CALIFORNIA. SO AREAS LIKE LAKE COUNTY UP INTO BUTTE COUNTY, PLUMAS COUNTY, IT’S PRETTY MUCH GOING TO BE AN ALL DAY RAIN AND SNOW EVENT FOR YOU FOLKS. NOW THE SNOW LEVEL IS GOING TO RISE AS SOME WARMER AIR STARTS TO WORK IN ON THURSDAY. AND AGAIN, MORE OF THAT NOZZLE OF THE THE HOSE HERE IS GOING TO MOVE UP TO THE NORTH ON THURSDAY. AND THEN IT KIND OF SWEEPS A LITTLE FARTHER SOUTH AS WE GO THROUGH THE DAY FRIDAY. IN TERMS OF RAINFALL AMOUNTS. AGAIN, THE BEST RAIN IS GOING TO BE HAPPENING NORTH, AND THAT’S WHERE WE HAVE THE IMPACTFUL WEATHER. AND WE COULD EVEN SEE SOME AREAS OF THE CREEKS AND STREAMS RISING AND POTENTIALLY FOR SOME FLOODING IN AREAS LIKE AROUND YUBA CITY AND MARYSVILLE RAIN SOUTH ON FRIDAY, MODERATE IMPACT ACROSS OUR AREA. SNOW IS GOING TO BE AT THE HIGHER ELEVATIONS, MAINLY ABOVE 7000FT, AND WIND ARE LIKELY NOT TO HAVE MUCH IMPACT. SO FOR THE NEXT COUPLE OF DAYS, AGAIN, PERIODS OF RAIN
