The French singer, who is a hit with her new album My blooddelivered herself this evening on the set of “It’s yours” on 5. Clara Luciani looked back with emotion on her difficult beginnings in music, evoking in particular her decision, at 19, to leave the family cocoon against the advice of her parents.

A late but necessary rebellion for Clara Luciani

It was at the age of 19 that Clara Luciani made the most difficult decision of her life: to go to the other side of France to make a living from her passion, against the advice of her parents. “I was not a rebellious teenager at all. And that’s when I said to myself, actually, sorry, mom and dad, I’m leaving, guitar on my back, even if that’s what you fear the most”she confides. A situation all the more complex as her parents did not have the means to support her financially.

From self-motivation to recognition for the singer

This difficult period gave birth to the song “Come on”, a true hymn to self-persuasion. “I often chanted sort of self-talk mantras to myself. Either way, it had to be okay. I had too much pride to go back to my parents. I always said to myself, it has to work”explains the artist.

A new life between rock and motherhood for Clara Luciani

Today, Clara Luciani, who is the godmother of the Star Academy, enjoys a great revenge on life. Her new album, recorded during her pregnancy, marks a return to her rock origins, influenced in particular by her husband Alex Kapranos, leader of Franz Ferdinand. “It’s a record where I talk a lot about my origins, but also about my beginnings in music”she confides. “It's a trip back in time and it's tinged with what I listened to when I was a teenager, music that was more rock, more British pop.”

Having become a mother in September 2023, she is now preparing her 2025 tour with a new perspective: “I have a very fantasized vision of life on tour with a baby. I don't really know what the reality of this is. The most important thing is that he is happy”.
