A gale will hit France this week during a series of events, between rain, strong winds and the arrival of snow on the plains from this Thursday. Météo France has placed the Rhône department on yellow alert for violent winds as of this Tuesday, November 19, 2024.
Many French departments are on alert from this Tuesday, from the west, to the north, in the Paris region, the north-east and a good part of the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region. An episode “fairly classic for a month of November, where there are successive passages of depressions, disturbances and sustained gusty winds”, according to meteorologist Yann Amice interviewed by actu.fr.
Here is what awaits us this week: strong gusts of wind Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and this Sunday.
Gusts of 50 to 75 km/h during the week
Météo France is forecasting an eventful week with gusts of wind in Lyon over several days this week.
- Up to 50 km/h this Tuesday, November 19
- Up to 60 km/h Thursday November 21
- Up to 60 km/h Saturday November 23
- Up to 75 km/h Sunday November 24
- Up to 65 km/h Monday November 25
Météo France's yellow strong wind alert for the Rhône is active from the end of the afternoon this Tuesday, November 19.
Stronger gusts in the Alps
In addition to heavy snow on the central massif and the Alps, the most violent winds will affect the reliefs of the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region.
Wednesday November 21, “the wind blows in gusts of 70 to locally 90 km/h, sometimes at more than 100 km/h on the Auvergne and Alpine terrain with a risk of surge on Limagne”, writes in its Météo France bulletin.
