England (4-2-3-1)

Jordan Pickford (GK): Unlikely to have a quieter evening. Ireland did not manage a shot until it was 4-0. 6

Tino Livramento (RB): Nervy initially but grew into his debut and had key role in the second goal. 7

Kyle Walker (CB): Could have given away penalty when Sammie Szmodics tumbled. Otherwise untroubled before going off. 6

Mark Gueh (CB): Ireland wanted a penalty for a tangle with Evan Ferguson. Flicked on for England’s third. 6

Lewis Hall (LB): Unflustered on his first start. Showed adventure in attack. Deserves more chances under Thomas Tuchel. 7

Conor Gallagher (CM): Full of hustle and bustle in midfield. Made it 3-0 with his first international goal. 7

Curtis Jones (CM): Not as influential as against Greece. Still showed flashes of class, raising the tempo with quick bursts. 6

You Maduek (RW): Kept getting into promising positions but lacked accuracy. Would benefit from releasing the ball sooner. 6

Jude Bellingham (AM): Stood up when England needed him, winning the penalty that broke the deadlock. Added two assists. 8 MOTM

Anthony Gordon (LW): Struggled to hurt a deep defence before half-time but an expert volley doubled the lead. 7

Harry Kane (CF): Was not playing well before superb pass led to his penalty. Duly converted for 1-0. 7

Substitutes

Jarrod Bowen (for Madueke 75): Broke his international duck by scoring with his first touch. 7

Taylor Harwood-Bellis (for Walker 62): Young defender headed in the fifth on his debut. 7

Morgan Rogers (for Gordon 75) 6; Angel Gomes (for Jones 79) 6; Dominic Solanke (for Gallagher 75) 6
