Sheinbaum will bring Mexico’s social and equality agenda to the G20
Notipress.- The president of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaumwill be the only female state leader to participate in the summit of the G20which will take place on November 18 and 19 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Their attendance generated international interest, particularly among the leaders of Canada, China, France, India and other countries, who requested bilateral meetings, according to the chancellor, Juan Ramón de la Fuente Ramírez. Sheinbaum left for Brazil on Sunday, November 17, 2024.
Sheinbaum’s central themes at G20
Sheinbaum will be part of two plenary meetings where topics such as fight against hunger and povertyas well as the reform of global governance institutions. In this context, Mexico is expected to support the Brazilian president’s proposal Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva for one global alliance against hunger and poverty.
The Mexican president stressed that she will share the results of social programs such as Sowing Life y Youth Building the Future, emphasizing its focus on social welfare as a replicable model to combat inequalities. Furthermore, he stressed that he will propose initiatives in favor of the most needy population, as well as the vindication of women’s rights.
Regarding his participation, he stated on November 8, 2024 at the press conference: “We are proud of the cultural power that we represent and to show the results that exist in Mexico. And to speak from the perspective of what we represent; that it is not the market that solves the problems, that it is good that the market exists, but that rights exist.”
Equality, sustainability and technology on the agenda
Mexico will also promote issues related to gender equalityhe sustainable developmentthe cultural preservation and the artificial intelligencewithin a digital agenda that seeks to balance technological advances with social equity.
For his part, De la Fuente highlighted that the humanitarian mobility model will be a key point in Mexico’s participation, an approach that addresses in a multidisciplinary way the migratory cycle.
Sheinbaum’s presence at the G20 seeks to strengthen Mexico’s position on global issues such as equality and human rights, although it also pursues strategic alliances with other countries. The president stressed the importance of promoting a relationship of equals, without subordination, to build a more fair and sustainable development model.
