Five Football players from the Belgian national team will not play this evening’s match against the Maccabi Tel Aviv team, and are leaving the squad, the Red Devils announced yesterday.
According to RTL info, Maxim De Cuyper, Romelu Lukaku, Arthur Theate, Romeo Lavia and Amadou Onana did not take part in the training session on Saturday November 16. A few hours later, the media had confirmation that the players will not fly with their comrades to Hungary, where the match is scheduled to take place this Sunday, November 17 at 8:45 p.m. (Paris time).
Following the violence suffered by Maccabi Tel Aviv supporters in Amsterdam on November 7, the question of the security of the matches that Israel will play in the Europa League organized by UEFA has pushed several countries to refuse to host home matches.

This is particularly the case for the Israel-Türkiye match, which will take place on November 28 behind closed doors in Hungary.
In this case, Belgium had already refused to host a men’s League of Nations match against Israel last September. The match finally took place in Hungary, in the total absence of spectators in the stadium.
The announcement made by the Red Devils does not specify the reasons for this shower of packages. During a press conference given on Saturday evening, coach Domenico Tedesco declared that the players concerned were “all injured”, according to comments reported by Le Soir.
The five players who will not be able to play the match against the Israeli team are added to an already long list of injured Belgian players.
Domenico Tedesco called on the young Norman Bassette to complete a Belgian team weakened by these sudden departures.
