Ten points is what was enough for Jorge Martín to win his first world title in MotoGP and what was missing for Pecco Bagnaia who tried everything until the end. At the end of the duel which kept fans in suspense throughout this year, here is the final gap between the two protagonists, after the Italian's victory in Barcelona – the 11th on Sunday in 2024 – and the ample third place enough of the Spaniard to secure the coronation.
Another issue of the weekend, but to a lesser degree, the clash for the honorary third place in the championship turned to the advantage of Marc Márquez against Enea Bastianini. If this position is anecdotal in his XXL prize list, it confirms if necessary the return to the forefront of the man who will team up next year with Pecco Bagnaia in the Ducati factory team.
Behind this quartet the place of “best of the others” was also at stake, finally pocketed by Brad Binder, who took advantage of the delicate end of the race of the rookie Pedro Acosta to also end the year with the label of first KTM rider.
No French driver finished the year in the top 10 since Fabio Quartararo ended his campaign in 13th place and Johann Zarco in 17th.
The manufacturers' and teams' championships reflect, as expected, the outrageous domination of Ducati in 2024. The Italian brand wins these two titles hands down.
