MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) – Cloudy skies stick around for the second half of the weekend, but temperatures will be a bit warmer than yesterday. Areas near the Stateline may get in on a sprinkle or two this afternoon, but we’ll all see rain moving in on Monday.

This will be the start of another active weather pattern in southern Wisconsin that will continue through the workweek and potentially into next week as well. While Thanksgiving week’s forecast is still uncertain, we’ll keep a close eye on it for you as you make travel plans.

What’s Coming Up…

Mainly overcast today, but areas north of Madison may see a few breaks in the clouds. A weak wave of energy moving through could spark up a quick shower or a spot of drizzle in Rock and Walworth counties, but those chances are low and isolated. High temperatures will be in the middle 50s, with a breeze out of the west.

Skies will begin to clear this evening and overnight, allowing temperatures to drop quickly after midnight. We’ll wake up to temps in the mid and lower 30s tomorrow morning.

Clouds will move back in quickly tomorrow, as low pressure approaches from Iowa. Widespread rain will move in during the midday hours, and continue through the evening. The evening commute will likely be slower than usual thanks to the steady rainfall. Showers will continue overnight, gradually tapering off Tuesday morning. Rain totals will likely be close to an inch in many spots, if not exceeding one inch.

Looking Ahead…

After a few morning showers, the rest of Tuesday will be dry and mild with temps in the upper 50s. As that low exits the region, cool air will begin to surge in from Canada. This will allow temperatures to fall through the day on Wednesday. This will be key as another small disturbance moves through, sparking up light rain showers with some slushy snowflakes mixing in. Since we’ve been so warm the past few weeks, no snow accumulation is expected and this likely will not impact road conditions.

Cooler temperatures look to stick around through the end of the workweek and into next weekend. It looks like the days leading up to Thanksgiving could be chilly!
