Guest on the set of What an era!Saturday November 16, Michel Denisot answered Léa Salamé's many questions and retraced his career at Canal+. It was also an opportunity for the former presenter to give news of his friend Charles Biétry, suffering from Charcot's disease.
Now an unmissable Saturday evening event, What an era! has become the benchmark weekend show which sees many personalities pass through. If it is Léa Salame who is at the helm of this public service program, she is well supported by Christophe Dechavanne. And this week, they notably received Michel Denisotemblematic figure of the Canal+ group. After having worked for a long time for the small screen and knowing all the little secrets of televisionthe former presenter of Grand Journal decided, a few years ago, to go behind the camera. Michel Denisot had in fact made a feature film, Any resemblance…in which Franck Dubosc played the role of Cédric Saint Guérande, star presenter of a television news program, without faith or law. A fiction not so far from reality which depicted the war of egos within television. And at almost 80 years old, Michel Denisot has seen it all! On Léa Salamé's set last night, the journalist returned to the beginnings of many presenters who began their careers with him, like Yann Barthès.
“He has difficulty speaking”
But above all he gave news of his friend Charles Biétryformer sports journalist, great figure at Canal+ and promoter of football. Former boss of Paris Saint-Germain, he now suffers from Charcot disease, which is characterized by progressive paralysis of the muscles, and a life expectancy not exceeding three to five years.. Last year, he confided in The Team : “We organized everything with my wife and my children. I don't want to be connected to a machine to breathe when there is nothing left, no future. I I don't want to suffer and above all make my family suffer (…) I registered in Switzerland for assisted suicide, all the papers are signed.”
Michel Denisot indicated that he had seen it recently: “Charles has a lot of courage, I went to see him not very long ago. He is fighting a difficult, excruciating illness, he has difficulty speaking, etc.but we communicate a lot by texting about light things”he commented without wanting to reveal more of his friend's private life.
