Georgia has made history in Junior Eurovision and has become the country that has won the children’s festival the most times: a total of four. He has achieved this thanks to Andria Putkaradze, his representative who took victory this Saturday, November 16 at the Caja Mágica in Madrid in front of almost 7,000 people. For her part, Chloe DelaRosa placed Spain in a not inconsiderable sixth place, out of the 17 participating countries.
It was among the main favorites, but Portugal, France and Ukraine sounded stronger. But finally it was this 11-year-old Georgian who raised the mini crystal microphone after sing To My Mom (to my mother)a song that he dedicated to the most important person in his life, according to himself.
Georgia’s proposal had a minimalist staging: only the singer and a dancer on stage while the snow fell and in the background there was a room in which images of a mother and a son were projected. In this way, he managed to excite the public, although he especially conquered the professional jurywhose votes, which represent 50% of the total, made it come in first position, with 189 points.
It was not the same for him public (the other 50%), which gave it sixth place with 59 votesbehind Portugal (117 points), Ukraine (81), Malta (79), France (74) and Spain (69). Even so, the advantage that the jury gave him made it inevitable that he would take the victory and add a total of 239 points.
This ballad is a worthy winner and, therefore, was among the bets, but The favorite ballad to win was Victoria Nicole’srepresentative of Portugal who came second with 213 votes.
Most of the remaining songs rather raised the publicespecially that of Ukraine (Artem Kotenko) and that of France (Titouan), who were fighting to achieve their third consecutive victory in the children’s festival, since they won in 2022 and 2023. In fact, the high cost of hosting Junior Eurovision so many times in such a short time was what made them reject celebrating it in 2024 and it fell to Spain, which came second in 2023.
Chloe, “universal like Lola”
Precisely, being hosts has been greatly noticed in this edition, and not only because the presenters (Ruth Lorenzo, Marc Clotet and Melani García) or the majority of guest artists (María Isabel, Abraham Mateo, Sandra Valero) have been nationals, but because The public has vibrated with the performance of Spain more than ever.
Chloe DelaRosa stepped onto the stage hard to pay tribute to her music divas, but, especially, Lola Flores. Like Lola triumphed at home, well The applause and cheers deafened the stadium. when it was the Extremaduran’s turn, and the choirs of thousands of people that filled the Caja Mágica could be heard accompanying the main voice of the ‘cantista’ (singer and artist), as she is called.
The festival’s motto this year was Let’s Bloom“let’s flourish”, and it is evident that these children (most of them) did it on stage. But what is clear is that the one who did it the most was Chloe DelaRosawhich I carried the flowers even in the song.
