Real Madrid failed to score points in the first Clásico of the season that was played at the Alfredo Di Stéfano. The match was conditioned by the early Barça goal after four minutes, which forced Toril’s team to look for a comeback. Guijarro put the visitors ahead by finishing a corner kick to the far post. Redondo, in the clearest chance of the first half for our team, had the tie in the 8th minute with a shot inside the small area that Paredes saved at the last moment.
The game would get more complicated before the break. Barcelona extended the lead on two other occasions. First, with a strong shot from the edge of the area by Guijarro in the 22nd minute, and then with a shot by Pina from the penalty spot against which Misa could do nothing. The Madrid goalkeeper was the most outstanding of the locals in the first half.
Equality in the second part
The changes in the second half of Toletti for Angeldahl, Bruun for Redondo, and Linda C. for Teresa, gave Real Madrid a greater presence in attack. Toril’s team found depth on their wings and that’s where the danger came. Weir, Olga and Bruun, on two occasions, came very close to closing the gap in 20 minutes in which we took control of the match. Our team did not stop trying in the final stretch but the blaugranas, with the tranquility of the result in their favor, achieved the fourth goal thanks to Alexia Putellas in the last minutes of the match.
