Smoke over the IWB after an explosion? Cantonal police clarify
Early Saturday evening, what appeared to be smoke in Basel frightened residents. The fire department, ambulance and police responded to the IWB.

From a distance there were fears of an explosion at the IWB. Smoke appeared to be rising over a building. But after a short time, the Basel-Stadt cantonal police were able to give the all-clear. It was water vapor, she writes on social media.
“Shortly after 5:30 p.m., a pipe carrying hot feed water burst in an IWB Basel building on Voltastrasse,” said the cantonal police. As a result, a large amount of water vapor escaped from the roof. There were no injuries and there was no danger. The situation is under control. (pin)
