She was at the “center” of an “organized system” aimed at making the European Parliament the “cash cow” of the RN: the prosecution requested Wednesday November 13 in 5 years in prison, including 2 years in prison subject to change, 300,000 euros fine and 5 years of ineligibility against Marine Le Pen. On RTL, Jean-Philippe Tanguy, National Rally deputy for the , member of the National Bureau and the Finance Commission of the National Assembly criticizes these requisitions.

Anger at the RN, the day after the searches targeting Marine Le Pen in the parliamentary assistants affair. If the court follows her searches, and even if she appeals, the politician will not be able to run in the next presidential election.

Jean-Philippe Tanguy expected the worst, and had anticipated this “completely irrational and outrageous indictment which does not correspond to the case”. According to him, the “prosecution chose excess, scandal, to hide its judicial and legal bankruptcy“.

“There is no personal enrichment”

“I understand that people are angry when (…) politicians steal from the fund. But (in this case) that is not the case. There is no no personal enrichmentno fictitious job”, affirms the RN deputy. “In this trial, there is disinformation which makes people believe that Marine Le Pen and our companions could have personally enriched themselves”, he continues.

To recall the substance of the case, the RN is accused of having used European funds to make people work for the party, which was at the time the National Front, and not directly for the European Parliament. On the other hand, it was never about personal enrichment.

Marine Le Pen, however, reimbursed sums before the trial even began. “The European Parliament is at the same time the complainant, the investigator and the judge of this sanction. It is unheard of in Europe and it is contrary to the European Convention on Human Rights,” warns Jean-Philippe Tanguy. “This is not an admission of guilt: Marine Le Pen was obliged to repay before the French trial was held,” he believes.

A little more than 4.5 million damages according to the European Parliament. Since the start of the trial, Jean-Philippe Tanguy has felt “a certain excitement”, but also “a great silence from the left”. Gerald Darmanin for his part declared on his social networks that it was not up to justice to deprive Marine Le Pen of a candidacy.

“Whatever we think of Marine Le Pen, there is a sentiment d’injustice faced with these requisitions”, declared the member of the National Office of the RN. At 8 p.m. Wednesday evening, the president of the RN group in the National Assembly left the court with reddened eyes, with the air of being very moved. Face to this emotion, Jean-Philippe Tanguy wishes to recall that this trial “has lasted for several weeks and a procedure which dates from two years ago with reproaches coming from the 2000s”.

This comrade of Marine Le Pen affirms, “she will continue to fight“. As for the hypothesis of an impossibility of running for the 2027 presidential election, the RN would not work to resolve this problem: “When you are innocent, you don't have to think about these kinds of circumstances.” shares the politician.

In certain French territories, “Marine Le Pen embodies something that no one embodies today : a link with the French that only General de Gaulle had among the population”, thinks Jean-Philippe Tanguy. He also believes that the female politician is judged differently precisely because “it is the National Rally”.
