neo. On Thursday morning, Alert Swiss reported heavy smoke development in the area around Einsiedeln Monastery. Alert Swiss calls on people in the area to close all windows and doors, as well as to turn off ventilation and air conditioning.

When asked, the Schwyz cantonal police said there had been an incident in the monastery’s heating system, which runs on wood chips. The cause of the heavy smoke development is currently unclear. However, there was no fire. Alert Swiss spoke of a fire in a statement.

According to the cantonal police, no major property damage has been found so far. The fire department is on site and has the situation under control. The cantonal police confirmed a report by the news magazine “20 Minutes”.
