According to BFMTV, former Prime Minister François Fillon proposed to the National Assembly to pay him nearly 700,000 euros (689,989.32 euros) by spreading the payments over the next ten years.
This amount corresponds to the damages for which he was “jointly” condemned by the Paris Court of Appeal on May 9, 2022. A sum to be paid to the National Assembly, with his wife Pénélope and his former deputy Marc Joulaud. That is 679,989.32 euros to which are added 10,000 euros in legal costs.
New trial on November 25
On April 24, the Court of Cassation confirmed the guilt “for embezzlement of public funds” of the man who was the big favorite for the presidency of the Republic in 2017, when this affair was revealed. But the highest court of the French judiciary also considered that the sentence had not been sufficiently justified by the court of appeal. She sentenced her to four years in prison, including one year in prison (placed under an electronic bracelet). A new trial will open on November 25, solely to define François Fillon's sentence.

François Fillon and the National Assembly have been discussing the terms of payment of this sum for several months. But the agreement would be linked to the capacity of the former prime minister (aged 70) to be able to assume these payments over ten years. However, “we cannot guarantee a judicial debt as we can a real estate loan,” explains a source close to the matter to BFMTV. “The only solution would be for the National Assembly to take a mortgage on the Fillon manor in Sarthe,” he concludes.
