Emmanuel Macron receives British Prime Minister Keir Starmer to commemorate the 106th anniversary of the Armistice, marking the end of the First World War. A ceremony – which caused some disruption on the Parisian transport network – “placed this year under the theme of Franco-British friendship”, detailed the Élysée in a press release.
The two men laid joint wreaths in front of the statue of former Prime Minister Georges Clemenceau and in front of that of former British Prime Minister Winston Churchill, on the Champs-Élysées. They then went to Place de l’Etoile for a traditional ceremony, to the sound of the British and French anthem. On the program: review of the troops aboard a “command car”, and tribute to the unknown soldier.

France enters winter this week, which begins under still gray skies, with fog over the South-West and the eastern valleys. Over Normandy and Hauts-de-France, a weak rainy spell will circulate from the English Channel.
On Tuesday, France will be divided in two with rain in the east, clouds followed by clearings in the west, while temperatures will become cooler on Wednesday. A few showers are expected over the Mediterranean arc, mainly between Montpellier and Nice.
On Thursday, negative temperatures will return, with dry weather for the majority of the country. A cold which will continue on Friday, but clearings are expected throughout the territory and there will be no showers to be expected for the first time since the start of the week.
