Amorim after the victory over SC Braga
Ruben Amorim, speaking to Sport Tv, after his farewell game as Sporting coach, with a victory over SC Braga.
«It was better than I wanted. I would have preferred not to have suffered, but the way it ended was so much more than I could have expected. After a week that could have been so difficult, I am feeling so much more rested… Because these players are unbelievable. We didn't start the game well. Slowly, doing what other teams in Europe do to us, letting time pass. In two transitions, we conceded two goals that we could have avoided, but the 2nd half is unbelievable. This adventure comes to an end today, but it was a special moment and I couldn't have asked for better.”
[jogo foi o reflexo do que foi a passagem no Sporting?]
“Undoubtedly. It’s telling in 90 minutes a story that we all live. It was a lot of suffering, a lot of fighting until the end. All the goals from Coates, many in stoppage time… today it was Harder. In the end, we deserved the victory because we were the team that wanted it more. But I also have to say that in the last 20 minutes the greatest freshness of my team was noticed, and this has to do with the fact that SC Braga played on Thursday.”
[ganhar em Braga depois do Manchester City]
«Today had much more flavor than Tuesday. Champions League week only ends at the weekend. And we closed the week like this. Because any team can beat the other in a game. What tells the story of teams is knowing how to win week after week, game after game. Being able to win in our championship is always the most important thing.”
[jogadores foram festejar o 4-2 no banco, mas no fim não ficou para a despedida com os adeptos]
«I had already said goodbye. And when you win, it's the players who have to go there, I have to leave space for them. It hurt me more to see Pote leaving crying. And it's not the first time. And I know he played because it was my last game. You made this effort and it costs me a lot. I feel like Pote is a little mad at me and that's really hard for me. At the end everyone felt that it was important to go into the break with a victory. I'm sure if they stay humble and help each other, they will have a great coach who will help them move forward. I have no doubt about that.'
[Balanço da passagem pelo Sporting]
«The results were not perfect. We didn't expect to win so much, but we could have won more. It seems counterintuitive, but it makes sense. It was an unbelievable adventure in terms of connecting with people, which we experienced at every stage, every trip. It was an adventure that I would like everyone to experience. I was very happy, I never felt alone, and a coach spending five years at a club, finishing 4th and never feeling alone, is very special. At this moment, Sporting is a special club. Because clubs also live on moments.”
[Que Sporting fica?]
«Sporting has everything to move forward. There are more uncertainties about what my future will be than what Sporting's future will be. I am very confident that the club will follow its path. It will be difficult, the speech may be different, the instructions too, but if they remain humble, the coach who comes will do a great job because the players are really very special.”
[promete continuar a sorrir?]
“I am going to try. I won't become a different person. Hold on for three months or ten years, I know I'll be fine. Because I am fully aware of what is important in life. And that is a big advantage. I really want to win, I'll be in a better mood if I win, more upset if I lose, but I'm certainly not going to lose my essence. The quicker he lost his coaching career. Because there is so much to do. I'll be the same. Obviously it will be much more difficult, I have no illusions nor am I at all naive. This adventure was much riskier. The other is whatever it has to be.”
[Bruno Fernandes está entusiasmado e diz que companheiros também]
«Bruno also knows me and my colleagues. You may be more excited now, there will be phases where you won't be as excited [risos]. But I hope he and the other players are happy. This is half the battle for teams to play well. I hope to help the Manchester United players, as I did with the Sporting players.”
