After the victory of Flemish in the Copa do Brasil this Sunday (10), striker Gabigol surprised by announcing, in an interview with Globo, that he will leave the club in December. This end of the cycle marks the end of a five-year trajectory, with the player accumulating 160 goals (four of them in three Libertadores finals), and winning 13 titles, including two Libertadores, two Brazilians and two Copas do Brasil.

Gabigol also commented on the troubled season he experienced. He made direct criticisms of coach Tite, saying that “He had a coach who didn't respect him as a player” and “it wasn't an easy year”, mentioning the doping case. The player also took the opportunity to needle the board, revealing dissatisfaction with unfinished negotiations: “In recent years, there were negotiations, where the president and the board shook hands with me, my mother, my father, my family, and then there were none. No I liked a lot of things, knowing about it through the Podcast and not in person. I spoke a lot with Braz, about the possibility of 2.3 years (of contract), and he never heard that proposal”.

In the current season, the center forward scored just 7 goals, but two of them in the first game of the final, giving the Cariocas victory and taking the title. The number 99 played in 17 finals, scoring 15 goals. Gabigol leaves the club marked as one of the main players in history wearing the red and black mantle.

New club:

According to information from GloboEsporte, Gabigol already has a destination for next season: the Cruise. The president of the Minas Gerais club, Pedrinho, sought the striker in the last transfer window and has negotiations well underway to bring him in 2025. Flamengo's title helps the celestial team, which is in 7th place in the Brasileirão, and thanks to winning the mengão, guarantees a place in the Libertadores. The Minas Gerais team is still competing in the final of South American Cup against Racing.
