Pakistan’s pacers put on a stunning display to remove Australia’s entire team for 140 runs in the final ODI in Perth on Sunday.
Shaheen Shah Afridi and Naseem Shah took three wickets each while Muhammad Hasnain took one wicket and Haris Rauf grabbed two.
Australia is missing skipper Pat Cummins, along with Steven Smith, Josh Hazlewood, Mitchell Starc, and Marnus Labuschagne, as they focus on preparing for the first Test against India.
Josh Inglis, 29, has been appointed as Australia’s 30th ODI captain and will also lead the team in the upcoming T20I series against Pakistan. Despite his significant responsibilities as a wicketkeeper, Inglis has not captained either Western Australia or the Scorchers in the BBL, though he did lead a strong Prime Minister’s XI in a first-class match against the West Indies two years ago.
Following an impressive nine-wicket win in Adelaide, which came after a two-wicket loss at the MCG, Pakistan is on the brink of achieving a rare series victory in Australia. Their pace attack, spearheaded by the in-form Haris Rauf, is eager to take advantage of the anticipated fast and bouncy conditions at Optus Stadium.
Pakistan has named the same XI for the third consecutive match, providing much-needed stability after recent off-field issues, including the resignation of white-ball head coach Gary Kirsten just a week before the tour.
