For traders Sables-d'Olonne also, the weekend of departure of Vendée Globeit's only once every four years (normally)!

On this night of November 10, the public will gather as usual on the quays on both sides of the channel, just to find a good seat so as not to miss any of the show. And this, well before daybreak.

The traders of Quai de la Chaume will also be there.

Sleepless night at the Boucherie Chaumoise

Starting with the Chaumoise butcherywhich does not close its doors at 7:30 p.m., as usual on Saturday evenings, to reopen the next day at 8:15 a.m. This time the store will be open all night, and the team remains on deck.

“The Vendée Globe is a great party,” comments the butcher, Jérémy Batiot, at the head of a young team, just as enthusiastic as he is at the idea of being at the heart of the event. Like Clémence, at the checkout, who “can’t wait”. For everyone, this special Vendée Globe all-nighter is a first.

Will it be about feeding the public all night long? Yes and no. “In fact, we have so many chickens in order that we have to start very early to cook them and prepare the orders. There are only 40 chickens per rotisserie. There, if people want to come pick up their order around 10 p.m., they can,” explains the butcher.

Warm up over a coffee

For small and big appetites in the evening and at night, the team offers tartiflettes, small sausages, and scrambled eggs for the morning. “We don’t make sandwiches, just our usual products,” says Jérémy Batiot.

The Boucherie Chaumoise team shouldn't feel too alone, since the bars surrounding areas have planned to open at the time when the public begins to arrive and may need to warm up over a coffee: 4 a.m. for the Starfish, 4:30 a.m. for the PMU bar, 5 a.m. 30 for the Pont bar..

The news-agent La Pibole tobacconist is not to be outdone: opening at 4:15 a.m. “But be careful, at that time, we won't have the newspapers yet,” warns the tobacconist.

As a reminder, it's at 8 a.m. that the first competitor will start from Port Olona.
