OpenAI’s ChatGPT was down for thousands worldwide. Users saw a ‘bad gateway’ error. According to DownDetector, a platform that tracks online outages, more than 16,000 people in the United States were affected by the issue.
OpenAI responded to the outage: ‘We are currently investigating this issue.’ According to the DownDetector, 79% users said they had problems with ChatGPT generally. Meanwhile, 15% complained about the mobile application and 6% were unable to use the website.
Several users reported issues on social media. “Chat GPT is down and I need help on the last question of my exam,” one person joked on X, platfom formerly known as Twitter.
“chatgpt is down today, everyone please get back to write your own code now,” a second one added.
“Me wondering if I asked too much of Chat GPT and somehow caused it to go down. #ChatGPT,” a third person said on the Elon Musk-led platform. OpenAI is yet to give a timeline as to when the issue will be resolved and what caused it. The time it takes to fix a 502 Bad Gateway error can vary from a few minutes to several hours, depending on the cause.
ChatGPT Went Down On Monday Too
ChatGPT on Monday suffered a massive outage, only days after OpenAI released its search engine into the chatbot. The website showed a “404 Not Found” error message.
OpenAI lauched ChatGPT search last week. Users can now search the web for information via the AI chatbot.
