Kingsmead

Sanju Samson smashed his second T20I hundred in as many games, putting the South African attack to sword at Kingsmead with some extraordinary hitting.

The wicketkeeper-batter, who had made 111 off 47 balls in the previous T20I he played against Bangladesh in Hyderabad, was in spectacular form from the get-go, racing to 35 off just 20 balls inside the Powerplay overs.

Sanju Samson displayed his true potential sending the South African attack on a leather-hunt with a splendid century before before the hosts clawed their way back to restrict India to a manageable 202 for 8 in the opening T20I here on Friday.

South Africa were never in the chase of the 203-run target, and also showed a clear lack of planning amongst their batters on what seemed like quite a favourable pitch for batters.

Varun Chakravarthy and Ravi Bishnoi picked 3 wickets each for just 25 and 28 runs respectively to restrict South Africa to 141 in the first of the four match T20I series.

It should also carry credits for India skipper Suryakumar Yadav and his understanding of the game and conditions.
