Last night, violent clashes between supporters took place on the sidelines of the match between Ajax Amsterdam and Maccabi Haifa in the Europa League. Dutch police announced more than sixty arrests and several injuries. And if some described these attacks as anti-Semitism since several Israeli supporters were targeted, others pointed the finger at the behavior of Maccabi Tel-Aviv supporters who had chanted racist slogans before the match, whistled the minute of silence for the victims of flooding in Valencia, and tore down Palestinian flags present in the city. On his Instagram account, Moroccan international Hakim Ziyech, originally from Amsterdam, quickly reacted.

“If they are not women and children, then they run away. And long live free Palestine”he commented on his Instagram story, reposting a video of the night’s clashes. A story that got people talking and made Maccabi Tel Aviv Israeli international Eran Zahavi react. The latter responded publicly to the Galatasaray player and thus demanded sanctions from UEFA. “Stupid supporter of terror. I hope you see this and sanction it UEFA! ???? » he said.
