Several supporters of Israeli football club Maccabi Tel Aviv were attacked on the streets of Amsterdam, Netherlands, following the Israeli football team's 5-0 defeat to local club Ajax on Thursday (November 7) in the evening. According to the latest report communicated by the police, five people are hospitalized and 62 others have been arrested.
Less than a week before the match between the French football team and Israel, scheduled for next Thursday at the Stade de France, these attacks are a reflection of the rise in anti-Semitism in Europe, believes the president of the Representative Council of Institutions Jews of France (Crif) Yonathan Arfi who is alarmed by a security which no longer seems to be guaranteed for all citizens in European democratic societies. This Thursday, Bruno Retailleau, the Minister of the Interior, said he was opposed to a relocation of the match, defended by some.
