The Canarian winger, part of the greatest team in Barça’s history, proves week after week at Lazio that he performs brilliantly at the highest level.
The late Italian singer and actress Raffaella Carrà, who passed away in 2021 in Rome, sang many years ago in her iconic song with Jaxomy: “Pedro, Pedro, Pedro, Pedro, Pedro, Pe! Pedro, Pedro, Pedro, Pedro, Pe! Che player, Pedro, Pe!” Indeed, what a player Pedro is. The former Barça player, now at Lazio, proves that a select few are like a good wine, improving as time passes.
Far from walking away from top-level football, the 37-year-old winger remains steadfast. After experiences at Chelsea (five seasons), Roma (one season) and Lazio (towards the fourth season), Pedro remains Pedro. The Canarian striker is indispensable in Marco Baroni’s plans. His last leading performance was against Porto (2-1) in the Europa League, where he achieved the victory in the 90+2 minute to maintain the lead in the group stage. In fact, the Italians are the only team to boast a perfect winning record: four out of four.
However, Pedro’s key role for Lazio is almost daily bread. Excluding the last Serie A match against Cagliari, won 2-1, Pedro had scored in three consecutive matches, all victories for the Romans: against Como (1-5), against Genoa (3-0) and against Twente (0-2). In total, he has scored six goals and provided two assists in 11 appearances this season, accumulating 537 minutes of playing time.

In this way, Pedro contributes to a Lazio goal every 67.12 minutes. These are spectacular statistics for a natural worker who continues to sweat like he has since day one, even at age 37. Despite everything, he always carries Barça in his heart.
