A 17-3 run by the Bucks put them out in front in the opening minutes of the first quarter. A lot of that energy was provided by Andre Jackson Jr., who entered the starting five for the first time this season. However, a Brook Lopez foul on a contested shot from Jordan Clarkson gave Utah a free three points to close the quarter out, letting some air out of the momentum balloon for the Bucks. Heading into the second quarter, their lead sat at a slim 31-29 advantage.
The Jazz then began the second quarter with a 22-4 run of their own, only for the Bucks to immediately answer. The threes were absolutely flowing for Utah, as they knocked down 14 in the first two quarters. In fact, check out this tidbit. Per Justin Garcia, Utah averaged 11 threes per game and matched that and more in the opening two frames. That was the reason behind their 61-57 halftime advantage.
Utah’s 3-point shooting finally came back down to Earth to begin the third and Milwaukee took advantage. Led by Dame and Giannis, Milwaukee escaped out of Utah’s grasp and strung together a double-digit advantage. Going into the third quarter, the Bucks had constructed an 88-77 lead.
From that point on, the Bucks created enough separation where Utah was unable to mount any sort of comeback. The losing streak finally snapped, as Milwaukee snagged a 123-100 victory.
Stat That Stood Out
With their disastrous start to the season, the Bucks needed a jolt of energy to get back on track. Tonight, that came via Andre Jackson Jr. For the first time this season, Doc Rivers inserted him into the starting lineup. It immediately paid dividends. He was all over the place, immediately packing a punch to the starting five. It’ll be interesting to see if Doc enlists trust in him tomorrow night against the Knicks.
