Third draw in four matches Europa League for the Roma in Ivan Juric: the Giallorossi against the Union Saint Gilloise they fail to achieve that crisis-busting success that would have put some more certainty on Juric’s bench, but they continue their European unbeaten streak. The match started slowly, with an interesting attempt by Baldanzi in the 12th minute, but the Italian playmaker’s conclusion was too central and Moris could clear it without risk. The Belgian team responds: on the free kick taken by Vanhoutte, Sykes stands out ahead of Mancini, but fails to find the target. At the end of the half, Niang shoots towards the near post defended by Svilar. The Serbian goalkeeper is not surprised, deflecting a corner kick. The last chance of the first half was created by Mancini with a header in the penalty area which however ended slowly in the hands of the home goalkeeper.
The second half was certainly more entertaining, with Roma taking the field and immediately making themselves very dangerous with a cut from Baldanzi who let loose his left foot in front of the penalty area and saw the ball crash against the base of the post. It’s just the appetizer, because after a while the advantage arrives: Gianluca Mancini with an imperious break anticipates the opposing goalkeeper at Pellegrini’s invitation and gives Juric’s team the lead, chasing their second success of the season in the Europa League. The advantage, however, lasts a few minutes: corner kick taken in the centre, Svilar falls in the penalty area after a clash with his teammate Koné and leaves the field free for Mac Allister’s header, who heads into an empty net. Juric’s substitutions did not significantly change the balance of a match which rightly ended in a draw, despite a final shiver in the Giallorossi area.
