Donald Trump is no longer the annoying friend of the National Rally (RN). Re-elected president of the United States, he is no longer the sulphurous candidate and possible bad loser with whom it seemed risky to associate twenty-four hours earlier. Wednesday, November 6 at dawn, after the little hands of the Lepéniste party vibrated all night before the scenario of a clear victory for the former pariah, the RN deputies were able to freely express their satisfaction: Donald Trump is once again praised to the skies by the mass of far-right elected officials, who see in his victory revenge against “wokism” and the media – including French. Celebrations that could come back to haunt the RN if Donald Trump implemented his program, including increases in customs tariffs against European products and stopping aid to Ukraine.

“What a lesson for all these bazaar democrats”wrote Louis Aliot, vice-president of the National Rally, Wednesday, on the social network State of Georgia and for trying to overturn the results of the presidential election on January 6, 2021, the day of the attack on the Capitol. In the Foreign Affairs Committee of the National Assembly, Wednesday morning, the RN deputy for Isère Alexis Jolly gave a long speech welcoming the victory of Donald Trump: that, in his eyes, of “public policies closer to the daily concerns of American citizens, immigration, security, reindustrialization”.
