With Election Day over, the NBA is back. And the Lakers are desperately looking for a win after the embarrassing loss they suffered at the hands of the Pistons. Well, they will get a chance to turn things around tonight as they face the Grizzlies. But even Ja Morant and Co. hope to wash off their recent loss against the Nets. Sure enough, that makes tonight’s clash even more significant. However, there are a few stars who might not be available for the encounter.
Obviously, the biggest question mark from the Lakers’ side is Anthony Davis’ health. Yes, he re-aggravated his ankle during the last game and we saw him hurt despite finishing the game with 37 points. Moreover, the team listed him as questionable for tonight with a left heel contusion. Meanwhile, Austin Reaves and D’Angelo Russell’s status is probable, as they deal with ankle and foot issues, respectively. Sure enough, Jarred Vanderbilt (foot) and Christian Wood (knee) will remain out as both stars are yet to appear on the court this season.
Well, the Grizzlies will also be extremely shorthanded. Of course, GG Jackson II is out with a foot injury and is targeting a return in January. Even superstars Marcus Smart and Desmond Bane are unlikely to be available as the former DPOY is recovering from a sprained ankle while Bane is dealing with an oblique strain. Apart from that, Vince Williams Jr. and Cam Spencer are still rehabbing from their injuries.

As per the latest update, Luke Kennard has been upgraded to questionable, which is a good sign considering he has not played so far because of a strained left foot. And John Konchar’s status remains doubtful, with a right quadriceps contusion.

Obviously, Davis showed his willingness to play in the last game and his team would hope he plays tonight as well. That’s because he has been their best player so far, averaging a league-high 32.6 points. But if he does not play, JJ Redick’s squad could face a major size disadvantage.
Meanwhile, with the Grizzlies having multiple stars on the injury report, this is what their depth chart looks like:
Positions | Starters | 2nd | 3rd |
PG | Ja Morant | Scotty Pippen Jr. | Yuki Kawamura |
SG | Jaylen Wells | Luke Kennard (Q) | Brandon Clarke |
SF | Saints Aldama | John Conchar (P) | Colin Castleton |
PF | Jaren Jackson Jr. | Jake LaRavia | |
C | Zach Edey | Jay Huff |

Sure enough, this is not the start they would have hoped for. It was only last season that they faced major injury concerns and there was a point where they had thirteen players on the injury report. That would probably be the reason they could not even make it to the playoffs. But with Ja Morant’s return, they hope for a better outcome this year. However, it will not be long before these injuries begin taking a toll on them again.
Well, tonight’s game is crucial for both teams because it will show how they play amid adversity. Whose side are you on?
