The Lille public prosecutor confirms that the ambulance driver arrested, after the death of a 39-year-old pedestrian, on the A25, on October 27, 2024, has been exonerated. The investigation continues to find the driver of an accident ambulance.

The public prosecutor in Lille explained on Wednesday November 6, 2024 that “the investigations carried out made it possible to rule out the involvement of the person arrested in the fatal accident, the pedestrian who suddenly crossed the highway not having been hit by the ambulance vehicle.”

The ambulance in question, “was traveling at high speed, with the flashing lights on”, according to several witnesses. She fled directly after the accident, without stopping. The national police had issued a wanted notice in order to find the suspect.
According to information from France Bleu Nord, of the 3,000 ambulances in circulation in the North, at least ten were in the area on the Sunday of the accident.

On the other hand, the driver of the ambulance, cleared of having hit a person on the A25, is accused of having driven with an invalid license and at excessive speed. The person concerned will appear before the criminal court on April 24, 2025 before the 6e bedroom.
