At the end of October, Jean-Claude Puyo, president of the Bazadaise omnisports sports union, was invited by Jonathan Mourgues to participate in the presentation of the new section of Bazadais sport: orienteering. “The purpose of this meeting is to elect the office,” explained Jonathan Mourgues.

He detailed: “In , there are 10,000 orienteering licensees and 50,000 people who practice it occasionally. In , 340 people are licensed with four clubs, not counting Bazas. With our section, the territory of Gironde will be completely covered. We recovered the material from the former association, Sud-Gironde Orientation, which was donated to USB. She also left us the sum of 2,777 euros, which will allow us to launch the section. »

Twentieth section of the club

For his part, Jean-Claude Puyo clarified: “You are the 20e section of the USB, an association which dates from 1904. The sporting offer is quite important in our territory. Each member pays 5 euros to the USB omnisports. This year, we should be around 1,800 while the average in France is 1,250. Each section has its president and is autonomous. »

Once the office was elected, Jonathan Mourgues as president, Sylvie Dubiez treasurer, Benoît Casaban secretary, William Girard and Rémy Zeidan also joining the office, details and projects were presented by Jonathan Mourgues. “Training will take place on Sunday morning, from 10 a.m. to noon. The location will be different each time. In the near future, we will apply for the ''Valides Handicapés'' label and participate in various charitable actions by offering orienteering races. We will also create or participate in a “Let’s clean up nature” event. More distant projects are being studied: the creation of an orienteering school or the organization of an event in Bazas combining cultural and sporting challenges with other associations. »
