In thirteen years spent under the Qatari flag, Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) has rarely experienced such strategic alignment between its different thinking heads. From the president, Nasser Al-Khelaïfi, to the coach, Luis Enrique, via the sports advisor, Luis Campos, the football club of the capital has found itself for fifteen months a triumvirate which lives in harmony and defines its orientations without infighting.
At the forefront of this trio, the 54-year-old Spanish coach is responsible for converting this harmony into efficiency on the pitch. Since the start of the season, the results have been convincing in Ligue 1, since PSG is a solid leader and is six points ahead of Olympique de Marseille and AS Monaco, after ten days of the championship. In the Champions League, on the other hand, the capital club is less sovereign and feverishly approaches the reception of Atlético de Madrid on Wednesday November 6 at 9 p.m.
After three days, Paris only occupied 19th place in the C1 league phase. A situation “concerning”conceded Luis Enrique after the disappointing draw against PSV Eindhoven (1-1) on October 22. On the eve of the match against the Colchoneros, the Asturian said more ” optimistic “ : “I have confidence in my players and [à leur capacité à] take all three points. » A new misstep against Atlético would not compromise PSG's chances of qualifying for the next round. However, it would weaken Luis Enrique, who has become all-powerful at the club in recent months.

Since the departure of Kylian Mbappé this summer, Luis Enrique has established himself as the real star of PSG, even more than his players. Crowned with his victory in the Champions League with FC Barcelona in 2015, the Spaniard has a CV and an aura which facilitated his takeover at the head of the new Parisian gaming project: giving pride of place to the collective and young people talents, rather than world football stars, like Neymar, Lionel Messi or Kylian Mbappé.
Expanded responsibilities
To carry out his project, Luis Enrique inherited very broad prerogatives in the technical sphere of the club, allowing him to build his squad and his game plan. With Luis Campos, he notably actively participated in the last transfer market to target future recruits, a privilege that few coaches of the Qatari era can boast of. This legacy of responsibilities was made all the more easily as the Spaniard has great complicity with his president, we specify internally.
