More than a thousand people march Wednesday in almost absolute silence in Romans-sur-Isère (Drôme) in tribute to Nicolas Dumas, a 22-year-old Rugby player killed by a bullet in the head on Halloween night in front of a discotheque near Valencia.
At the head of the procession, with a serious expression, the family of the young rugby player holds in their hands a banner with photographs of Nicolas and some nicknames given to him, such as “The Princess” or “My Dwarf”. Behind, some walk with a white rose in their hand, others dressed in a rugby jersey or T-shirts with the words “Nico forever in our hearts”. Most are young. The LR mayor of Romans-sur-Isère, Marie-Hélène Thoraval, also responded.
Two suspects arrested in Marseille and Cavaillon
This white march is organized by the Rugby Club Romans-Péage, already affected a year ago by the murder of Thomas, 16, stabbed during a ball in the village of Crépol (Drôme), and member of this same club . Nicolas Dumas died on Saturday after being injured in the head in a shooting, which occurred during the night from Thursday to Friday in front of the Le Seven nightclub in Saint-Péray (Ardèche), which also left two people injured.
Around 2:55 a.m., a hooded individual dressed in black fired several shots in the direction of the queue for the establishment, which welcomed nearly 800 people for this Halloween evening, many of whom also dressed in black. Two men in their twenties were arrested Monday evening: the alleged shooter in the northern districts of Marseille and the alleged driver in Cavaillon in Vaucluse.
The investigation is now supervised by the Interregional Jurisdiction specializing in the fight against crime and organized delinquency (Jirs) of Marseille. Interior Minister Bruno Retailleau spoke to the victim's mother, “impressively dignified in her suffering”, he told MPs on Tuesday during questions to the government.
