Many Milan fans were worried at the start of the season. Is new coach Paulo Fonseca really a good fit for the Rossoneri? The Portuguese’s system now seems to be getting better and better: Milan won 3-1 at defending champions Real Madrid on Tuesday on the fourth matchday of the Champions League. For Real, this ended a series of 15 unbeaten home games in the premier class at the Estadio Santiago Bernabéu.

The Milan victory in the sold-out Madrid football temple was also deserved. German defender Thiaw first scored with a header against former coach Carlo Ancelotti. Vinicius Junior’s equalizer didn’t faze the Rossoneri. Before the break, Morata scored from a Leao shot to give Milan the lead again. The guests, who did not have an Italian in the starting line-up, put the lid on things in the second half with the help of the Dutchman Reijnders (after a nice Leao assist).

Manchester City is being dismantled

Perhaps an even bigger surprise came in Lisbon, where Sporting beat Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City 4-1. Gyökeres was an outstanding triple goalscorer. The 26-year-old Swede is being hunted by half of Europe. This was the last home game for outgoing Sporting coach Ruben Amorim, who is heading to Manchester United during the international break.

FC Liverpool is still without a flaw in the Champions League this year, setting an exclamation mark with a 4-0 win against Bayer Leverkusen. Juventus, on the other hand, couldn’t get past a 1-1 draw at . Everything is still possible for the old lady in the premier class. Borussia Dortmund shuddered to a 1-0 home win over Sturm Graz. BVB benefited from a late Graz defensive error, otherwise the criticism would have been loud again. RB Leipzig, on the other hand, remains at zero points after losing 3-1 at Celtic Park in Glasgow. FC Bologna still only has one point because they had to admit defeat to AS Monaco late on.
