It was always going to happen. A problem with the machines, and conspiracy theories to match.
In a Cambria County, a deeply Republican part of Pennsylvania, reports have emerged of an issue with the machines counting votes.
The problem apparently isn’t with the counting machines, but with the printers that printed the ballots.
This mirrors a similar incident in 2020, when a mistake by the Republican Antrim County commissioner led to Joe Biden unexpectedly receiving far more votes than Donald Trump.
The ballots that had been printed did not match the ones the counting machines had been programmed to process.
In that case, the error was remedied the day after the election, but conspiracy theories abounded.
Similarly, this time, there are allegations from Trump supporters online that a conspiracy is afoot in Pennsylvania. There isn’t.
But it’s misinformation like this that can lead to unrest once polls close.
