– Rama Yade releases a book entitled “Lessons from America”.
Disappeared from the radar since 2017 and her failure during the legislative elections where she obtained only 5.65% of the votes in Loir-et-Cher, Rama Yade has reappeared publicly in recent days in numerous television shows. Africa Director of the Atlantic Council think tank since March 2021, she actually lives in Washington and follows American politics very closely. On the occasion of the release of his book Lessons from Americashe therefore took the opportunity to deliver her analysis a few hours before the election between Donald Trump and Kamala Harris.
Asked by GalaNicolas Sarkozy's former Secretary of State admits to feeling good across the Atlantic while being “useful” and without “having to endure the violence of the political world” which, she admits, has sometimes been “very hard to bear”. Saying “fascinated” by the United States, Rama Yade reveals having “worked almost for free” upon his arrival in order to “prove yourself”. Far from political life French now, the former regional advisor admits to still having discussions with some of her former colleagues like Laurent Wauquiez.

“I obviously want to come back to France”
As for relations with Nicolas Sarkozy? “Everything is fine between us”assures the one who will be 48 years old in December, because “water has flowed under the bridges”. She even mentions to Gala an anecdote when Emmanuel Macron's government was formed: “He told me, with a wink: 'We were still another matter… We were stars!' I told myself that he hadn’t changed.” If she says herself today “close to the ideas associated with the true right” and still fights against racism, the mother recalls that she had warned against “extreme right-wing” of some, reason why she had left the UMP.
Finally, does she fear an election of Donald Trump as head of the United States? On this question, Rama Yade does not prefer to answer since she “works with both Democrats and Republicans” and must therefore “remain neutral”. Regretting that we are still at “highlight the color of people” in France, she points the finger at «polarisation» and the “paradox” of the United States where we can elect Kamala Harris but also “kill George Floyd” or where “we are repealing the federal right to abortion”.

According to Rama Yade, all these elements are “a warning of what awaits France”. France actually misses himparticularly gastronomy and fashion. “I obviously want to come back to France. It remains my country and that of my daughter, so I will be back in a while”she assures, without specifying whether she will make her return to politics.
