Luc Nilis is currently working at Patro Eisden. He was inducted into the Hall of Fame of the Jupiler Pro League on Monday evening.

The Pro League added the first ten names to the Hall of Fame on Monday. Luc Nilis among them. He played 223 games in the Jupiler Pro League and scored 127 goals.

He actually hadn’t expected it at all. “It is very surprising,” says Nilis at Spoza. “But it is a huge honor that I can join the Hall of Fame with these names. So I’m very proud.”

Although that same feeling always remains with the striker. “I always felt that I was never really appreciated in Belgium and that my value and qualities as a footballer were valued, partly because I never won a Golden Boot.”

He therefore thought he would miss out on the honor for the Hall of Fame. “That’s why I thought this would be another evening where you just missed out, and that’s why it’s all the more wonderful to be part of it.”

Nilis has a special word of thanks for everyone who voted for him. “I would like to thank the supporters. I love you guys. That’s why you play .”
