PSV coach Peter Bosz has explained his midfield against Girona. The coach chooses Mauro Júnior, Bosz confirmed prior to the match that the Brazilian is the controller in midfield.
In the absence of players such as Joey Veerman and Jerdy Schouten, Bosz had to figure things out in the last matches. Malik Tillman played a few matches as 6but he will now be able to stand higher on the field again. “Mauro Júnior is the most defensive midfielder, because of the available midfielders he is the most defensive-minded midfielder,” Bosz explained to Ziggo Sport.
“I think we need this tonight,” Bosz said, referring to Mauro Júnior’s effort. ‘He is originally a midfielder, who was once put at right back. It takes some adjusting, because the people who normally play there are both not there.’ The choice of Mauro Júnior was also dictated by the physical condition of the player he replaces. “Ismael Saibari is fit again, played ninety minutes against Ajax and if he now has to go back to work it would be a risk,” Bosz explained about the passing of the Moroccan Spaniard.
The PSV coach is wary of Girona, which was previously defeated by Feyenoord in the Champions League and is a mid-table team in Spain. ‘A lot has changed at Girona, but it is still a great team. This is not just an opponent we walk over.” Still, Bosz aims for a good result. ‘I think we should win at home and go for the three points. You want to participate in the rankings and continue after the winter.’
